Many people have suffered abuse in their lives. Abuse at the hand of a parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt, husband, wife or even a friend, co-worker, boss or acquaintance. Sadly, many of these people remain victims their entire lives- the abuse they suffered determines their self-esteem, or even the types of romantic relationships they seek. This need not be!
Once a victim of abuse does not mean you always must be a victim of abuse!
As anyone familiar with my work knows, I too, have been a victim of abuse. With God’s help, I have been able to heal, grow, and yes, even forgive my abusers.
I am not alone. Many people have done the same, conquering their pain and living a life free of further abuse. Unfortunately, there are just as many people, if not more, who remain victims of their abusers for their entire lives – living with little or no self-esteem, enduring dysfunctional and abusive relationships, facing anger problems and depression, even to the point of wanting to die. I have been there – it is a terrible place to be!
God loves everyone- He does not want His children to suffer!
If you have been a victim of abuse and have overcome your pain, or are in the process of overcoming your pain, I would love to hear your story. I would like to compile a book of stories like yours, and, with your permission, would like to include your story in this book. It will be a free ebook available on this website (and anywhere else I can find to offer it!), so that your story and others like it can reach anyone who needs to be encouraged that God can help them, too.
I am looking for stories of people who have suffered abuse of all types – physical, sexual, emotional, financial, spiritual, etc. – and who have worked with their Heavenly Father to heal from the pain of that abuse. Even if you have not entirely overcome your pain, but are in the process of doing so, I want to hear from you! People need to know that healing does not happen in an instant, but in stages, and is often a lifelong process. There is nothing wrong with someone if they have been dealing with their abuse for a long time, and have not yet reached total healing. I am still working on my healing every single day!
Submitting your story does not necessarily guarantee inclusion in this book. However, if your story is included, you will receive an email notifying you that your story was chosen for inclusion.
If you would like to have your story considered for inclusion in my book, please fill out the form below. To protect your privacy, your real name will NOT be used. Invent a first name only that you would like me to use in your story. Also, please use fake names for the people you refer to in your story. Complete anonymity is encouraged to protect your privacy. Also, feel free to reveal only what you feel comfortable with. It is not necessary for you to divulge every single detail if you are uncomfortable with that.
If you are unsure about participating, I encourage you to pray. Ask the Father what he would have you do. Just remember – if you feel He would like you to include your story in this book, rest assured, your privacy WILL be protected! As a victim of abuse myself, I completely understand not wanting certain people to know that you are telling your story. There are also the legal concern of libel, which is written words defaming someone’s character. This is mainly why I encourage fake names and discussing only what you are comfortable discussing.
Finally, before deciding whether or not to contribute your story, please read this page: Important Information for Contributors If you decide to contribute your story, then please print it for your records. Thank you!
